Here’s my weekly round-up of local news for 10 – 16 September —

Two men arrested after an alleged rape in Bury Knowle Park on Tuesday night have been charged.

Headington’s specialist chocolate shop Coco Noir has a promotional video on Youtube.

Oxford Design (S side of London Road near Taylor’s estate agents) announced they will be moving to the Green Hangar, Stanton St John, on Monday 22 October.

Café Noir had a French Night on Friday – a six-course meal and music.

A traffic accident near the Shell station on London Road on Tuesday reportedly involving a car and a taxi caused buses to divert via Windmill Road, Old Road and Gipsy Lane for a short time. Fire engines also attended, apparently because it was close to the petrol station.

Five people were taken to hospital with neck and back injuries on Thurday evening after a two-car crash on the Eastern Bypass near Headington Quarry. The injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

The gold letterbox to commemorate former Headington School pupil Lily van den Broecke’s gold medal coxing the mixed coxed four at the Paralympics is at the top of Divinity Road. It’s in the OX4 postcode area.

The Headington Beer Festival was on over the weekend at @TheMasonsArmsHQ in Headington Quarry, ending on Sunday in the traditional way by running out of beer.

Dorset House student accommodation was officially opened at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday (picture c/o @HeadingtonNews).

Sheila Robinson of London Road, Headington has retired from her volunteering job at Clic Sargent after 19 years.

Local Councillors @RuthWilk and @DavidRundle posted a useful update on sewer and storm flooding in Headington.

@TVP_Oxford put out a warning about a series of thefts from cars in Headington.

Here’s my weekly round-up of local news for 27 August – 2 September —

The future of the Three Horseshoes pub in Old Marston is in doubt. Landlady Jeanette Cadd who has run the pub for 30 years is retiring. She has planning permission to turn the Grade II listed building – an old smithy – into two dwellings but has said she has not finally decided what to do with the pub, which is a free house. There are two other pubs in Old Marston, the Red Lion and the Victoria Arms.

In the wake of Oxford University completing the purchase of the Park Hospital site to facilitate the University’s development of the Old Road campus, Headington Councillor @RuthWilk called for a Headington masterplan to guide development.

A book by Dawn Griffis covering the history of Headington Hill Hall over the years 1939 – 1958 has been published.

@RyeStAntony School has submitted a planning application (ref 12/02214/FUL) for the erection of single storey extension to provide a new science room and office.

A Headington page has appeared on facebook. It’s nothing to do with me.

A lorry overturned in collision with a car at the Headington roundabout on Friday.
