Police continued with their emforcement operation against rat-running in Elms Drive, Marston.

Plans for the latest addition to Oxford University’s Old Road Campus will be on show on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 February. This is the new Institute for Developmental and Regenerative Medicine which will employ over 200 researchers. The exhibition is in Boundary Brook House on Churchill Drive, 4 – 7pm on Friday and 10 – 1 on Saturday.

Police are appealing for information about another back-door break-in, this time in Kiln Lane, Risinghurst.

It looks like Latimer Road is once again going to be the site of parking woes:

Headington seems to have an outbreak of door-to-door fish salesmen; whether it’s one group or several isn’t clear. While they may or may not be legitimate there’s always a worry about where the fish comes from, whether it’s been legally caught, and what recourse a buyer would have if it was sub-standard. The long-running refurbishment of the Barton Community Centre drags on, with local residents reported to be unhappy about work on the site being left in an unsafe state.

As Thames Valley Police struggle with funding cuts and raise the precept by £24 next year, the Marston/Northway police office which has been under threat of closure has had a reprieve, at least for the time being. The office in Barton and one in Brookes are both safe. The Oxford Mail has a full list.

À propos of which, does anyone know if there is indeed a police office on the @oxford_brookes campus? @Headingtonnews says it used to be on the Headington Hill site, but is it still there?

In other ‘Things Not Closing’ news, Headington’s branch of Santander Bank is not one of the ones being closed under the bank’s latest cost-cutting exercise.

Police are appealing for imformation about a break-in in Fortnam Close off Headley Way sometime overnight on 22/23 January. The thieves broke the patio doors to get in and steal cash.

South Oxfordshire District Council’s latest draft of their local plan identifies Green Belt land at Wick Farm and between Barton and Elsfield as possible sites for building new homes. They have announced a series of drop-in consultation exhibitions, including one at the OXSRAD sports centre in Marsh Lane, Marston on 11 February.

Local environmentalist and Friend of Lye Valley Judy Webb @judyweb32049878 was quoted by Oxford West & Abingdon MP @LaylaMoran in an adjournment debate in the House of Commons. The debate was about the Expressway.

Police are appealing for information about a burglary in Gathorne Road on Friday 11 January.

After confusion over their booking for the day after Boxing Day, a family threatened pub and upmarket foodie resort The Black Boy that they would post bad reviews in local papers.

It came as no surprise that both Oxford’s MPs voted against the government’s EU Withdrawal Bill on Tuesday.

The latest on the Headington Door Knocker story – he’s been jailed for theft as well as breaking the terms of his earlier suspended sentence. He stole two bags from Brookes’ sports centre and meat from Waitrose.
