Heatpipe roadworks slipping

The roadworks installing the heatpipe have slipped behind schedule. Vital Energi say this is because

  • installing the storm drain and sewer for the Winvic development on Latimer Road has taken longer than expected;
  • there has been unforeseen concrete and utilities congestion in All Saints Road and Lime Walk, and
  • County Council Access to Headington work at Roosevelt Drive/Old Road is currently over-running by two weeks.

Work in Latimer Road has been put back two weeks, and in Lime Walk one week. Work in Sandfield Road is still expected to start today (16 January). See the latest complete schedule here, or my map which shows the current works and what’s coming up next.

Headington Headlines #298

This edition of your round-up of local news covers  24 – 31 December.

Very little of note seems to have happened in Headington over the Christmas break, at least nothing that made the news. Carols were sung, churches held midnight Masses, turkeys and mince pies were eaten, the Boxing Day mummers in Quarry performed to big crowds. The hospitals carried on working but the road works lay silent, as did the Headington & Marston e-democracy forum.

In fact the only bit of news to surface was this announcement that Wolvercote Young People’s Club @WolvercoteYPC has been awarded £4,400 under a City Council scheme to provide youth sessions for girls and young women in Barton.

For food shops open tomorrow and  Monday (1 and 2 Jan) see here. Don’t forget the roadworks start again on Tuesday. Latimer Road will be closed, and Lime Walk only open one-way (northbound, i.e. Old Road to All Saints Road).

Happy New Year!
