Here’s my weekly round-up of local news for 5 – 11 November —

Martin Young’s latest planning application for 29 Old High Street was withdrawn at the East Area Planning Committee meeting on Tuesday. Local residents were prepared to accept it but Council officers were recommending refusal.

There was an accident involving a cyclist at the corner of Osler Road and London Road early on Wednesday morning. The road was blocked for more than half an hour.

A man’s gold signet ring was found on Windmill Road last weekend. Details on the e-democracy forum.

The corner shop (F&M’s) at the junction of Merewood Avenue and Burdell Avenue in Sandhills reopened on Tuesday.

@Oxford_Brookes held an Open Day on Saturday.

Last week’s announcement of new buses on the no. 10 route proved premature!

Coco Noir had its application for a licence to sell alcohol granted by the City Council.

@DorsetHouse_Ox held an open Coffee Morning on Thursday – a chance to look round the buildings too. Contributions went to The Archway Foundation.

The sixth annual Barton Bash was on Saturday at the Barton Neighbourhood Centre. @MessyJamOxford led by @EshaMessyJam were the headline act with support from Bayards Hill School choir and Barton Karate Group.

Two mornings of charity tattooing by Warren Jeffrey of Black Mamba tattoo parlour in Windmill Road raised £2000 for Cash for Kids.

An 18 year old woman was attacked in Long Close (off The Slade) around 5.25pm on Monday. She was grabbed from behind and her bag taken. Police are appealing for information.
