Headington Headlines #407

Your bi-weekly round-up of local news for 18 February – 3 March.

Frontier Estates showed an outline of their plans for residential accommodation for 160 students on a site between Jack Straw’s Lane and Marston Road. See my separate blog post about it for more information. The thread on the same topic on the Headington & Marston e-democracy forum is also worth reading.

The weekend just finished was @Ox_Clean‘s Spring Clean weekend. Thanks to everyone who turned out to help clean up OX3. I’ve heard that groups were working on Boundary Brook and around the Churchill, Warneford Meadow, Bury Knowle Park, Quarry and probably more. @BrookesCLO were out in Cuckoo Lane and around Headington Campus.

The White Horse pub on London Road is closed for refurbishment. It will reopen on 13 March with an upgraded sports area.

Aziz, the Curry Restaurant in Quarry, reopened the weekend before last after a refurbishment.

Less happily, Dragon Express on London Road was given a 1-star rating by hygiene inspectors. They found mouldy food and other items either long out of date or undated. The restaurant management is quoted as saying all the issues have been fixed.

A man was threatened with a knife by a burglar at a house in Humfrey Road, Barton on Sunday 24 February. A second burglar went upstairs and stole money.
