Here’s my weekly round-up of local news for 13 – 19 January.

Two men, one from Headington, pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 14-year old boy in Bury Knowle Park last year. They will be sentenced in February.

The body of a man in his fifties was found in the grounds of the JR Hospital. Police are said to be treating the death as unexplained but not suspicious.

An on-duty PCSO was assaulted in Wharton Road on Wednesday. A man who had allegedly been acting suspiciously reversed a car into the officer who was taken to the JR with minor injuries. Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses.

Bayards Hill School has been given a notice to improve by Ofsted following an inspection in December.

Information about a new Credit Union in Barton will be available at two public meetings at St Mary’s (Barton) this week, Monday 20th and Friday 25th.

The White Hart in Old Headington was voted CAMRA’s City of Oxford Pub of the Year.

@OxfordBusCo announced changes to their Route 4 services effective from 26 January. Part of the change will affect Wood Farm.

A new B&B Guest House, The Oxford Guest House, opened at 228 London Road.

A power cut hit parts of Headington on Sunday evening (yesterday).

Latimer Road is closed all this week for resurfacing.

Headington Headlines #144

Here’s my weekly round-up of local news for 30 December – 5 January.

There was a reported attempt to kidnap a sixteen year-old girl near the bus stop opposite Gladstone Road last Sunday (29 December). It appears she was also approached while waiting a a stop in St Clements earlier.

An advert appeared for a new pizza van trading outside Oxford Furniture 6.30 to 11.00 every evening except Tuesday and Sunday.

A “What’s On in OX3?” facebook page popped up. The area in the map extends out to Beckley and Noke. I assume it’s run by a bot, and there’s very little on it. Alternatively you could look here.

@TheOxonProject is holding its first business networking event of 2014 on Wednesday 8 January at The Oxford Golf Club, 1 Hilltop Road. The speaker is Clare Fielder from virtualnudge.com who will talk about business blogging.

Professor Peter J F Ratcliffe of the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine, University of Oxford became a Knight Bachelor in the New Year’s honours list for services to clinical medicine. Knights Bachelor do not add any letters indicating their honour after their names but are addressed as ‘Sir’.

Emergency services were called to a car fire & oil spill in Holyoake Road on Thursday. Stile Road and St Leonard’s Road were also closed temporarily.

A woman suffered minor injuries in a two-car collision at the Windmill Road/Old Road junction on Friday.

Starting today @Stagecoach_Ox are running an extra early-morning bus on the 700 route from Kidlington via Water Eaton and Headington/JR Hospital to the Churchill. There are some minor timetable changes too.

Rosemary Restaurant got its full name sign back. It’s RoseM’Tree again.
