Here’s my weekly round-up of local news for 9 – 15 February.

An article in the Oxford Times threw a little more light on the rumours about the future of the Headington Post Office, but its future is still unclear.

Three women accused of robbing another woman in Headington in December 2013 were found not guilty at Oxford Crown Court this week.

The East Area Planning Committee met on Wednesday and approved ‘reserved matters’ for the @BartonPark_ development, including street designs, parking, drainage, landscaping, footpaths, cycle paths and parks. They also agreed minor changes to the A40 junction leading to the estate.

Headington Headlines #190

Here’s my weekly round-up of local news for 17 – 23 November.

The first feedback from @HeadingtonPlan Headington Neighbourhood Plan’s consultation on local issues was reported in @TheOxfordMail. Transport problems were top of the list, but restrictions on what the Plan can cover are likely to limit any effective pressures for reducing congestion.

Some residents in and around Quarry suffered low water pressure on Sunday last week and again the next day. Thames Water confirmed there was a problem and assigned engineers to trace and fix it. Things were back to normal later on Monday.

Morrisons closed yesterday, just short of 13 months after it opened. The company says all the staff will be relocated to other stores in the area.

A car driving in a bus lane was seized by police in Headington on Thursday. The driver was uninsured.

The last vestige of Headington’s windmill disappeared with Windmill House being renamed Matthew Wigglesworth House. As always, headington.org.uk has the complete history of the windmill dating back to the 13th century.

Headington Headlines #183

Here’s my weekly round-up of local news for 29 September – 5 October.

The Foxwell Drive town green public enquiry started last Monday and is scheduled to last another two weeks.

The much talked about and much delayed London Road roadworks are due to start on 13 October – details here. County Councillor David Nimmo Smith @DNimmoSmit1 said: “Delays are to be expected throughout the time when the road works are underway and everyone is being asked to review their daily journey route, mode of transport and time of travel and where possible consider alternatives.”

A teenager was arrested after a man was assaulted near the community centre in Underhill Circus, Barton on Monday.

The Headington Neighbourhood Forum held its first annual meeting on Wednesday. The Neighbourhood Plan process now moves into a consutation phase. Leaflets are being distributed throughout the area and you can also take part in the consutation online.

Oxfordshire County Council released traffic order documents relating to the @BartonPark_ development and the A40. They cover speed limits, access at the new A40 junction etc. (with an acknowledgement that the access proposals depend on the outcome of the Foxwell Drive Town Green inquiry). I’ve combined seven documents into one which makes them even more confusing than they were. Some of them cover locations well away from Barton Park as well as those which will concern Headington and Barton readers.

@see_emilyplay reported several cars were vandalised in Bateman Street overnight on Friday/Saturday.

The Manor Surgery in Osler Road challenged David Cameron over his conference promise for GP surgeries to open 7 days a week. The surgery has invited the PM to visit the surgery and see the current problems at first hand.
