Headington Headlines #29

Another quiet week for news in and around Headington. Here is my round-up for the week 5 – 11 September —

Sadly not a first for Headley Way, but the first repatriation by the new route from Brize Norton was well attended throughout including at our local assembly point of St Anthony of Padua. The Oxford Mail estimated just under 300 were there to pay their respects. @headingtonnews has posted some photos.

@BartonOxford announced that work on a new £150k children’s play area in Barton is due to start on Sept 12 as part of the Play Barton scheme

Northway Pharmacy will be moving to Cherwell Drive next month to the site which was previously Spink Insurance.

The Department of Health has decided to sell Warneford Meadow. Here are links for more about the Meadow’s history and the Friends.

Active topics on the Headington & Marston e-democracy forum this week:

  • Quality of cycle racks
  • Oxford Half Marathon – September 25th
  • What’s wrong with Oxford to London express buses?
  • Spink Insurance

I try to cover news from the OX3 postcode in Headington and out as far as Barton, Sandhills and Risinghurst (see map). To feed into next week’s summary you can comment on this article, or tweet either with the hashtag #ox3 or @mentioning @TonyOX3.
