Here’s my weekly round-up of local news for 15 – 21 September.

It’s been Brookes Freshers’ Fair this week. A series of these stencilled messages appeared on the pavements along the London Road, ruffling a few feathers among local residents. A day or two later some attempt had been made to scrub them out. (Picture c/o @Mike_Rat.)

Labour held Quarry and Risinhurst Ward in the City by-election on Thursday. The new councillor is @Chewe Munkonge. Full results here.

A woman was followed into her flat in Roosevelt Drive and raped in the early hours of Saturday morning. A man has been arrested and is in police custody.

In what may signal the start of the much-delayed work on the London Road the bus shelter opposite Douglas Veale House, near the Green Road roundabout, has disappeared.

A traffic incident involving a car fire closed the same section of the London Road for a time on Friday morning.

The Headington stench returned on Friday evening and was still there on Sunday.

A new convenience store opened at 8.00 this morning in the colonnade at @Oxford_Brookes Headington campus.

Here’s my weekly round-up of local news for 28 July – 3 August.

Headington’s Londis closed down last Sunday (27 July). It now stands empty and its future is uncertain.

As one door closes another opens. The new Tesco Express opened on Tuesday morning. The store and its manager are on twitter as @Tesco6880. Also ‘Headington’ is apparently ‘Area 5‘ in Tesco-speak.

Multiple reports of a Big Pong across Headington on Monday evening attracted interest from @BBCPhilGayle and the Oxford Times. Unconfirmed explanations included muck-spreading in the Barton fields.

A van overturned on Jack Straw’s Lane on Tuesday.

The Barton Community Association is reported to be thinking of starting the process of forming a Parish Council. Still some way to go before it happens.

Not news, but a round-up of views on the Barton Park link road as developers confirm a planning application is scheduled for later in the year.

Headington School @HeadingtonSch celebrates its centenary next year and has a website dedicated to the event.

Vice-Chancellor Janet Beer is leaving @Oxford_Brookes at the end of January 2015 to take up the Vice-Chancellorship of Liverpool University.

Here’s my weekly round-up of local news for 5 – 11 May.

My blog has a tab for Elections 2014 in OX3. I published a list of the biographies and personal statements of most of the canididates standing for election in the six OX3 wards of Oxford City.

The John Henry Brookes building won the Building of the Year award in RIBA’s South region.

Headington Library will close for refurbishment from Monday 23 June to Thursday 3 July. The layout will include a new children’s library and a passenger lift.

Osler Road is going to be completely resurfaced! The work is scheduled to start on 2 June and last for three weeks. Residents and other users will have to find alternative parking arrangements. Although the letter to residents doesn’t say so, buses will have to be diverted via Headley Way.

Headington Quarry Village Hall held a fund-raising craft fair on Saturday.

The Parish Council election in Old Marston has been postponed due to the death of Parish Councillor Roy Jones.

The Duchess of Cornwall was in Headington on Friday to open the second phase of the University of Oxford’s Botnar Research Centre at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. The Duchess is patron of the NOC Charity.

A thread on the e-democracy forum reports that it is now officially confirmed that people can travel into and out of the City on the X90, Oxford Tube and airport buses.
